How to replace Marklin Maxi F-7 couplers with kadee - I have an F-7 maxi that I would like to repalce the couplers

How can I replace the OEM couplers on a Maxi F-7 1 guage loco? Would like to put on knuckle couplers but cannot see how to replace since the coupler is mounted quite a bit higher and drops down to the correct height.

Design & print an adapter part using a 3D printer? That should work well with scale 1.
