I have received a Lima wagon which has metal wheels. My question is, are these wheels going to short circuit on my Marklin C track
Thanks in advance
Vernon

No they won't because one wheel is insulated. However, if you have any 3 rail contact tracks, they won't complete the circuit. Unless someone else has changed the wheel sets to uninsulated, that is. You can tell by a small disc on one inner axle/wheel.

Hi Vernon,

No problem with metal wheels, since all Märklin wagons have had metal wheels for a very long time.
Do you already have a few Märklin wagons ? You will see they're all metal wheels.

Märklin C track is a three-rails AC system with both rails at the same electrical potential.
So Märklin wagons have non-insulated wheels.

In principle, Lima wagons have the wheels isolated from each other to be able to run on two-rails DC systems.

So no short circuit problem when running a two-rails DC wagon on a Märklin three-rails AC track.

One small difference between Märklin wagons and other two-rails DC brands is the wheel spacing on an axle.
13.8mm for Märklin
14.3mm for two-rails DC wagons.

This can cause derailments sometime when passing over the switches.

I hope I answered your question.

Best Regards
Joël

True, also with some Roco cars, but even some Marklin cars derail in C turnouts.
