Hallo,
I have installed Faller 648 Blinkrelais and so far it works fine. I understand it has a thermal switch. The coil gets hot, but I suppose that is normal for a termal switch. My question is simple:
How long can this Blinkrelais stay switched on ? E.G. the train stops on railway crossing and Blinkrelais remains activated for several minutes, red warning lights blink and blink. Can longer switching on damage thermal switch ? What is the maximum time for a Thermal switch to stay switched on ? It has a resistor but the coil does get hot - I suppose that is how thermal switch works. The arrow in the image points to the coil which heats up to activate thermal switch. HOW LONG IS IT ALLOWED TO STAY SWITHCED ON ? I fear something will burn out.
Thanks.

Hi Ivan
You are dealing with a collector's piece, not a "heavy duty" one.
Faller in those happy days (between 1960 and 1970) released a lot of very fun items, not too expensive but made with regular polystyrene and it has a tendency to change shape when heating.
So, to make it short, the relay may work fine BUT don't let it heat-up too much or it will be short-lived.
At the time Faller released two relays one like yours and the other for controlling a level crossing with AMS also with blinking output and power cut-out for the AMS side.
In both cases, blinking was abtained by heating up a bi-metal piece which will bend when hot
Cheers
Jean
