Hey guys!
A little background. My hobby started somewhere in childhood in early 90's buy with my fathers Märklin set that had an BR01 and passenger cars (+ BR80 with some freight cars) from the 60's.
BR01 has so much nostalgia for me. I still have the loco and it was even digitized bad it's not that good runner and sounds like a coffee grinder on steroids.
So I've finally purchased a new BR01 #39004 (still in shipment). I'm so excited! I'm quite disconnected from my father, but in good terms. Hoping he will see the loco some day.
Anyway, Märklin product page does not list compatible passenger cars for it...
My fathers old set had these chrome oxcide green passenger cars and a red restaurant car. I still have those and they are in a good shape. However no interior details and more yet, the relex couplers don't hold where my incline leves on the track.
So I'm looking for suitable passenger cars of that color with short couplers and interior details. Maybe even interior lights. What sets would suit me the best?
Märklin is coming out with #43936 but those don't quite look the same... Well they really don't need to. As long as the cars are of the green color and could have been pulled by BR01.
Thanks for tips!

Childhood memories are great, especially in this hobby. You probably already have searched the web. Still, I found this impressive youtube clip with two BR 01s: There is also a wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DRG_Class_01

With such a nice loco, you should definetly get some up-to-date rolling stock! It seems like a shame to pair it up with old tin-plate cars. So much stuff can be hooked behind this loco, as long as we talk about longer passenger waggons. (No freight, of course...) I would suggest the classical green, blue and red coaches. Preferrably of 303mm length (Roco, Piko, Brawa), but the Märklin 282mm also looks nice. In any case, be sure to get era III versions, so that they match your loco! (An easy way to see that, is that the serial-number of the car is normally at the left end, beside the lavatory window. On the era IV it is normally in the middle, below the "DB" marking) |

Hello Henrik,
thank you for the info. Märklin 282mm wagons are the longest that can run on my layout without hitting tunnel portal in curved tunnel.
