I have been longing to get some appropriate British coaches to go with the Marklin Frying Scotsman. So sad to see the latest new items list once again nothing there. While there are a lot of other brand British coaches around, they are usually OO gauge not HO.

So ..... I am contemplating the Rivarossi LMS coaches such as the 2932, 2933, etc. Can anyone tell me whether these models have internal detail (such as seating).

Confused

I searched images on google and it seems that they have internal details such as corridors but i didn't notice seats.

Hi Norm,
I have the Rivarossi LMS coaches, they have interior detail but without getting them out of storage I cannot provide any other info.
Be aware please that these coaches are scaled at 1:82 and I did not run them with my FS so I dont know if they match up well.

I do have a set of Playcraft BR maroon coaches which are 1:87 and probably a better match as regards livery for the era of the Märklin FS.
They will defintely be cheaper than the Rivarossi.
They also scale out about 2mm wider than true HO scale, but I am not bothered by that.

There is been some discussion and review of the Playcraft here, if you do a search.
regards
Kimball
HO Scale - Märklin (ep II-III and VI, C Track, digital) - 2 rail HO (Queensland Australia, UK, USA) - 3 rail OO (English Hornby Dublo) - old clockwork O gauge - Live Steam 90mm (3.1/2 inch) gauge.

Hi, the only h0 coaches that i found were some old Fleischmann. They are nice, but as they are old they come with the old style Fleischmann couplers, with no guide, you can change them with Flweischmann profi style, but the distance between the cars is high. they look nice though.
Here a little video, since then i have managed to put a 6 unit consist.
Regards

The Playcraft coaches will have large gaps between them when coupled using their native couplings. I have obtained a half dozen of them, and are looking at doing some 3D printing to make close coupling mechanisms for them.

Another member of this forum I know has Rivarossi coaches and they have reasonably close couplings and look good with the Flying Scotsman.

But before you go making a decision on what to buy you may like to check this page ... and select 'passenger coaches' on the menu. Also check the 'Buying Second Hand' menu item.

Thanks guys for all the helpful comments.

I have decided to get a set of the Rivarossi coaches. For a number of reasons.

They have continental couplers so directly usable.
I found a set of six from one supplier, so I save on postage.
No problem to change the wheels to ac sets, I have plenty available.

Now "in the mail" BigGrin

regards to all
Norm
