The youtube movie is in German, but one gets the idea, by just watching. It's a cool idea. Original comments were: Why not just lock the door, and indeed that was my idea as well, but then: What if you forget you had your door open and trains running.... it can and will happen... then the train will nicely stop. Well done I should say! Train tracks at the doorBTW: it is not my track...

Cool, but...Well. Me and my "Worst Case Scenario" mentality... What happens if the train is half-way on the bridge and the door is opened from the outside? I, personally, would add a "Traffic Control Light" outside the room so that it has a "Red Light Green Light" for Bridge Occupancy...kind of like a Dark Room Light operation, or 007 for M's office |

If one forgets that one... not much one can do about it... disaster follows... Or build a safety system with a red (blinking?) light? Lights up when transfo is powered up? To remind one to lock the door.. But how far do we go?

In the video, the German-speaking commentator reports that the door has a handle on the inside and a knob on the outside. Unlike in other countries, in Germany a door can only be closed with a door knob, but not opened; the door knobs are fixed and cannot be turned. In Germany, door knobs are located on the outside of apartment and house entrance doors. Therefore the door shown in the video is secured against unwanted opening from the other side. However, I don't think this is foolproof, as someone on the other side could open the door with a key. |

Aha! Thanks Ak! Now I see what appear to be multiple staircases and a door bell button (I thought it was a bedroom/garage/basement set-up)...at 0:50...so ample warning is provided! Edited by user 15 September 2024 12:22:24(UTC)
