I found this part lying around. It looks like it belongs to modern equipment. I checked my Era V and VI Heris, LSM and ACME models.
Next up are my various High Speed Trainset models (Roco ICN, Piko and Maerklin Giruno, Lima RABe 503/ETR610 etc).
I guess I should also check my Maerklin Lyria TGV.
It looks like it should mount on the underside of a bogie.

Do check your TGV. It looks like the part that is supposed to keep their axles from falling off.

Confirmed that it was a part from one of the coaches of the main 37792 set and is now back in place.
