Hi Everyone,

Ever since I got my 7286 tuntable, this thing has been nothing but problems, either the motor sounds like it has sand in it or it looses it's programming or it almost dies when turning in one direction. I found out that turntables built in 2002 had some problem between the deck and decoder and those units should be returned to Marklin for fixing. A friend of a friend of mine went to Germany and was going to stop by Marklin so he took my turntable along. I got it back a few days ago and was very anxious to see if there was any improvement, I was very upset to see no improvement what so ever, perhaps it's even a little worse, needless to say, I'm quite upset.

My train friends have speculated on what may be causing this problem, I've been encouraged to see how it operates without the digital module, I'm told it will run alot better, they figure the digital module (7687) is the source of all the problems.

At this point I'm going to see what happens when I run the turntable without the digital module but I also want to hear other experiences with this product from the Marklin-users net community.

The things I'm mainly curious about is whether it really is a problem with the decoder or is it the turntable or does this thing just need alot more power? (My layout is currently powered by a 64 VA transformer) Or is it just such a terrible product that I should never have purchased in the first place?

I consider the turntable to be one of the highlights of a layout and it's really upsetting when it doesn't even work properly.

I would really appreciate hearing opinions of this turntable and any tips or suggestions on what I could do to improve it's performance.

Thanks

Mike

I got rid of my digital module. It runs fine in analouge mode(once in a while a little grind) and I run it off a seperate transformer so no power worries either,I was told the 1st generations of TT decoders did not work properly because of poor solder connections[xx(]
worse things happen at sea

I abandoned my digital decoder and now I don't have any problems.

I have a page describing how I made my own digital control at

It can be seen working at

Hi Mike,

If it relieves the pain, I can tell you I have exactly the same kind of problem. [:(][:(]. It is such a disappointement, in view of all the work I did on the table (see https://www.marklin-user...504&SearchTerms=7286 ).
It started to behave strange after about 40 uses....[:(]

I am searching for some solution, but am not sure what to do. At first I wanted to replace the motor, with an Maxxon, replacement by SB-Modellbau, but apparently they state it is not working with digital.

Then there is Boll's solution, a totally new decoder to be built in. (www.bmbtechnik.de). I have asked for advice and am waiting for an answer.

Hope there is some light coming in this tunnel, since I am deeply disappointed in the "quality" of Märklin products...[:(!]
