Hi all, I'm making a small layout out of my Delta starter set. I have three delta locomotives and a few analog ones. Some of the analog loks are very old and I'd like to keep them original, but I do like running the delta trains with the controller.

How can I wire up both systems so I can put a couple analog loks on the tracks with signals and blocks, then if I want, pick them up off the tracks and put the delta loks on the tracks and switch over to the Delta controller?

I can probably make up a simple switching array that feeds the trafo either into the delta module or to the track, but I'm wondering if there's a more elegant solution.

In the spirit of using as much from my starter set as I can, I am retaining the blue transformer and I bought a matching blue Delta unit on ebay.

I wouldn't do anything other than disconnect the Delta control when running analog. You could wire in a jumction circuit with a rocker or toggle switch for the Delta control, but if you forget to trip it off you could send live power back to the transfromer and blow it, or the fuse inside. You world feed two positive pole wires to the setup. One to the track from the trafo., and one from the trafo. to the Delta control. The common ground could be shared between them, but if you wire in a second switch for it, that would be better in that live current couldn't go back to either control from the ground either. Too much bother for me, and I forget to trip switches and or button icons on my CS3 for turnouts at times.

To me, the logical solution would be to install a flip switch which would completely isolate one power source and would only allow operation of one system at a time. This would mean that both red/yellow and brown would be selected from one transformer at a time.
There would be no possibility of both being connected as the flip switch would have to be completely at one end for analog and completely at the other end for delta.
