I recently decided to go digital all the way so, I have spent the last few months updating several locs. I had something happen the other day that has never happened before and am not sure how to proceed? I updated a #3149 lok with a Marklin decoder #60983. The wiring and all went fine no problems there. I placed it on the CS programming track and got no response other than one headlight lit, and remained lit would not turn off? I then decided to move it to the MS2 track, which is totally separate from the CS program track. It's actually located in another room. Placed it on the track, works and responds perfectly fine. Lights work in both directions and switch correctly. Speed is good. All good ! So, I then re-placed it on the program track...nothing?? What would cause this to happen? And would love your suggestions as to next steps...? Thanks so much, Stephen

Which CS do you have? Try placing the loco on the regular track.

Hi Stephen Here are a few possibilities: - the decoder (60983) is defective or wrongly wired. One check is to test it with AC. Does it controls the loco (motor, lights, etc)? - the decoder needs re-initalisation by making CV8=8 - the MFX registration procedure was perturbed by railing the loco while power was on--> apply "search for lost MFX locos" - one of the protocols have been disabled on the loco or on the MS2 or CS2 or CS3
In order to reset the loco, if it is not registering through MFX is to disable MFX on your CSx or your MS2, then call DCC loco with an address of 3, check if it responds and ask for a reset Better do this on the MS2 as on CS2 or CS3, searching of lost MFX locos changes all the addresses and causes a mess. Note: when MFX protocol is active then DCC or MM2 protocols are ignored by the decoder. Cheers Jean |

The CS3 has in the "edit loco" tab a find missing mfx feature. Has the CS3 found and registered the loco? If it has then check to see what it recorded it as in the edit loco tab. If it is there you might have to delete it and have it reregistered. Also, is the loco registered in the MS2 as mfx?
