Has anyone built the Sawmill that came as part of the "Sawmill" Theme Extension Set, #78020: https://www.marklin.com/...s/details/article/78020?The model itself looks to be of minimal play value, but looks nice none the less. The sawmill is the same as Vollmer kit #43797: https://viessmann-modell...stry/940h0-sawmill/43797. I downloaded the Vollmer instructions as they provide slightly different detail in a few places. The biggest difference is that the Vollmer kit wants you to cut and glue the rubber bands ( conveyor belts ) to different sizes: 26.5mm and 15mm . Oddly, the place where these bands would be installed are basically the same size. Two questions come to mind; 1) why the different sizes? More importantly, how does one glue rubber? Perhaps a tire repair kit? Edited by moderator 07 June 2024 06:51:57(UTC)

Faller has at least two different ones that are or can be motorized. The black forest mill, the Hexenloche mill which the saw blade even reciprocates as well as the water wheels turn. I added an led light to the sawing room on mine. I think they also made a blacksmith shop with a running saw.

I will be looking at the Faller Catalog, but I have the Sawmill kit from Marklin and was hoping t get it to function properly. To that end, I need to be able to cut and glue rubber.

How does one glue rubber?

How does one glue rubber? I would try the glue from a bicycle inner tube repair kit.

I wouldnt try to cut and glue it... But you might get away with winding the rubber-band in a loop or two on one or both of the wheels, thereby making the useful length shorter, and maybe even improving traction on the wheel/axle. -Just be careful that the band doesnt overlap, but that the windings are laying side-by-side. How does one glue rubber? I would try the glue from a bicycle inner tube repair kit. I tried that as well as several other glues meant for rubber. They did not work. I bought some large rubber bands ( 8 inches ) that were smaller than the supplied bands ( 9 3/8 inches ) and these worked. However, the base bowed upwards because of the pull of the stretched bands. I'm thinking of re-enforcing the base and go with these bands.

The only thing I could come up with that this could mean, was CA. I tried that and a number of other glues meant for rubber. The issue seemed to be that as the rubber was stretched, the surfaces would separate from the glue. I found smaller rubber bands that seem to work.
