Hi friends,

I am presently looking for signals for my new layout, with simple stop-go function for the time being. As I am modelling US I can hardly use the Märklin signals, as I learned that the american signaling system is completely different from the german one, see http://www.lundsten.dk/us_signaling

I found a very nice chart with the Union Pacific signal aspects under http://www.lundsten.dk/u...spects_up1988/index.html and I am presently thinking about make them myself, with a few LEDs and some meters of wire.

I know that Microscale has some nice signals (see http://www.microscale.ch) for UP, too. However I would prefer some construction where the masts are not firmly attached to the layout, but rather must be inserted into some kind of plug, so I can remove them from the surface of my modular layout when moving.

And, finally, what about era III ? Are there large differences to modern signals ?

Looks as if I were a difficult customer, isn't it ?[:I]

Great! Thanks for sharing.
There has been some articles about DIY signals in Model Railroader.
Regarding signals in the US, there was some pretty good information about this in the "Modeling railroads of the 1950s", http://www.trains.com/mr...ault.aspx?c=a&id=474
