hi all,

i will be shortly upgrading from my MS2 to a CS3+, and of course i'm looking forward to write some automation procedures and related stuff. I watched lots of tutorial videos on CS3 macros and events, especially the ones from Model train fun and the videos by marklin seminars. I think i got (most of, but not all) the basics, but still i would really need some documentation, where each function, macro & event is exaplained , possibly with an example. i searched a lot on the web but i couldn't find a reference document on the subject. So I ask, does anyone know about further material on this subject ? otherwise it will all be trial and error, with a good chance to miss some opportunities just for the fact of not knowing that something was doable.

thanks,

Fab

Fabstar, it is a learning process. Some macros are complicated. I am no programmer, so maybe that is why, but Curtis Jeng from the webinars is, and even he and Rick don't know everything yet.

IMHO best training on CS3 macros is the one available in Model Train Fun Chanel. Everything is well explained there and no steps are skipped. Then once understood the basics as marklinst5999 said is a matter of learning more by doing. This is the only way of learning Macros.

But I guarantee you that you will be very pleased with the final result. You can do many interesting things with the CS3.

Unfortunately only basic macros are covered on the book. Not the complex ones.

thx all for the interventions, yes Model train fun is a good source of automation, but even him doesn't present a "start to finish" tutorial, just (part) of the final result. i love marklin products but the lack of documentation on this subject really annoys me.

for example, i didn't think it was possible to "track" locos position with the cs3, but a video of marklin seminars shows how it is possible, although very long. but the fact is, that video only shows "some" of the work (and assumptions) that has to be made.... the rest is guesswork.

i just need a start to finish tutorial/example of a little automation process, and then i can go from there.

Hello Fab,
in the CS3 workbook by Lothar Seel, the macros and the "Extended Event Control" are discussed in detail - but so far only in German.
As far as I know, only in this good form in this work!
Here you will also find very good information on the entire Märklin digital program. In my opinion, a very good complete work on approx. 1,400 pages in pdf format (with search function) with links to the corresponding video tutorials.
