Joined: 28/02/2024(UTC) Posts: 2 Location: Dublin		Hi all. This is my first ever post. I got present of the above loco for my 10th birthday in 1961. I am not familiar with digital. I would like to convert it but have no idea what decoder or digital conversion kit to buy. Can anyone help please? If responding please use simple terminology. I have just bought MS2 and 3000 loco as my first digital entry. I would like to remove forward and reverse coil mechanisms. Replace with magnet and 5 pole armature. I would like forward, reverse, smoke generator, maybe sound if not too complicated and the original front bulb to work when loco goes forward or in reverse. Appreciate any help as to what decoder and motor kit to buy. Thanks

If not at least the road number from the side of the cab helps us to identify the kit you will require to convert it. We do have a member or two in ireland, so there may be someone who can help if things get difficult. Alan

Joined: 27/11/2007(UTC) Posts: 315		It is probably a Class 01- 3048. This loco cannot be fitted with the standard 60944 kit. There used to be a set which was used on 30480- the replica 01. The alternative is to use an ESU decoder and their magnet for the 3 pole anker. The contact for light and smoke unit should be there already if it is a class 01. A picture or catalogue number would be helpful.
