Hi

I am converting a Trix Nohab (22169) locomotive to Marklin 3-rail.

The wiring harness to the decoder board has been done in such a way that it is difficult to access the soldering point for the brown wires and I therefore wondered if completely disconnecting the black wire to the rear pickup would be an alternative to re-attaching it to the brown wire?

Thanks for any assistance.

If you do that you will lose a good grounding point for the loco.

I have always kept the 2 rail pickups when converting Trix locos to run on 3 rail track and used them as a ground point.

Remember that side would have been the power pickup and is the side you need to ground to get common ground between both wheels on an axle.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I have converted a couple of old Lima locos to 3-rail and used both pick-ups as grounding for those. This is my first Trix conversion and I will keep to the same approach for that after all as you suggest.

Thanks again for the help.
