Hi guys,

I've made my first pre order of a new loco ever BigGrin

I was wondering how accurate the Märklin release dates usually are and should I prepare for disappointment when waiting for the loco?

https://www.marklin.com/...ts/details/article/37176

Can't wait for the smooth running of the flywheeled motor!

BR,
Eino

Hi Eino
This V100 loco is an old/new model.
It was first released around 1963 (not quite new)
- its coffee-grinder motor has changed from LFCM (LargFlatCollectorMotor) to DCM (DrumCollectorMotor) motor (I think it never received a SDS or C-Sine motor) and recently to a central CAN motor with flywheel and cardans to both bogies
- its body changed from plastic to improved detailing and metal.

In fact its "career" follows closely that of the 3065 (V60 series of the DB) Plastic body to metal one, ultra long life, motor changes (SFCM to DCM to HDLA), Telex from old to new to supernew (slim)

So, I think you know exactly what you will get: a very decent, nice-looking loco and fair runner (not as good as the SoftDrive Sinus models)
Cheers
Jean

Exactly!

But I was wondering if I should be prepared for a long wait time. The release schedule says January 2024 and has already been moved from December.

I have no previous experience if this is normal for new locos to be delayed?

Eino

Hi Eino
Based on my past experience there has been recurrent delays on some items (e.g.: on the slim DSS 24720) but usually not on this type of item like your loco.
It is a redecorated item with power-providing coupler and .... thats it. So long December stop is now finished and I think you will receive it.
One example: I have ordered a 42470 Lorelei set of cars, anounced for Q4 2023 and the first deliveries started by mid December in my shop in Paris (2 remaining boxes°
So I did not yet get mine because I ordered late Maybe you did too?
My German shop tells me I have to be patient until end of January, mid February for the 42470.
Cheers
Jean

Hmm, the 39904 Store Loco was also promised for December, and hasn't made the stores yet, although the corresponding wagonset just made it in time for Christmas.

In short, the release schedule is an 'earliest arrival time' and could well be later than that. If counting on it as a birthday present or the like, I wouldn't commit to it being on time.
