Does anyone know how to get to the new SUSI CV editing menu that was introduced in version 2.5.1? I've poked around a bit and could not find it yet.

Hi
I couldn't find how to modify the SUSI interface but I bumped into this very interesting video on the new 2.5.1(0) Update of the CS3. It does not cover the SUSI configuration but many other things

I would suggest you go into the loco fonction mapping and then inspect the special fonctions on the left side. Märklin made a lot of changes there
One of the commands is names BUS. It seems to aim at programming the SUSI interface. I haven't done it yet

I found for instance the way to drive SDS motors with an mSD3 decoder by clicking on "special fonctions" (Sonderfunktionen)

Also in the decoder editing (the light blue screen on the right with motor, sound, etc In the bottom fonctions they have added new features there I have not yet explored

Cheers
Jean

Can you explain more where you did find "special fonctions" (Sonderfunktionen) for SDS motors...

It will only appear in the configuration tab when you have a locomotive with a SUSI module.

Vs with the old software:

And you still need to know what each CV does......

Google or Bing cannot explain what SUSI stands for.

Really? Typing "mrr susi interface" into Google brings up this link as the first hit.

Thank you Alan.
I assumed it was not necessarily associated with or restricted to MRR.

It wasn't Kimball. In other applications, a software specialist told me it's rather antiquated.

Once you are in edit loco mode with one loco on the programming track, select the loco in question and then select the configuration tab (on the right).

All parameters will load. When finished, push any fonction key of the loco and you are on the MAPPING screen.

Once there, on the left, scroll down and sonderfunktionen will appear with multiple possibilities. One is IMMER (always) and is needed to force one output to always on (AUX4 in my case)

This is done by selecting IMMER among the special fonctions. A new line will appear, named IMMER and by selecting this new line, on the right side of the screen, you may add a new fonction (output 4 AUX4 in my case).

This is combined with editing on the configuration screen to select the CV52, motor type = 1 (Sinus), the CV56, Motorregelung = 0.
Last you must edit CV51 but it is not on this list. It has been added on one of the last parameters in the configuration menu after the buffers. Set Bit 3 and Bit 4 to 1 to indicate that AUX3 and AUX4 are LOGICAL outputs (and NOT power outputs).
Finished
Cheers
Jean

I have a loco with a 55029 retrofit decoder and a SUSI smoke unit attached, but the SUSI editor menu does not come up. Any ideas?

You didn’t have to enable any settings to see that? On mine I don’t see the SUSI option from the configuration menu.

Hi Diesel
No, I didn't change anything, unless, maybe, in the mapping, I may have fiddled with the special fonctions (right lower part of screen). I think there is a SUSI fonction. It is probably conditional to the loco you have (pulsing smoke, etc)
Cheers

A reasonable guess is that it depends on the SUSI module and how it communicates with the decoder.

eg it does not work to just add SUSI functions to the decoder mapping. and as far as I can see there are no settings for it the the config files. (but I might have missed it)

On a locomotive I have, that I have fitted with a Marklin msD3 and power pack 60974 the SUSI options just appear without me doing anything. But note I don't have large-scale decoders.........

you can try updating the decoder firmware if it's a bit old.

Thanks, I'll bet it has something to do with the MSD3 large-scale decoders, probably an oversight or maybe they dont think we are capable enough LOL . I had Marklin support tell me that they would not provide the SUSI CV information for their pulsed smoke units to hook up to the 55029 RETROFIT decoder. I basically had to figure it out myself reading out the values to a DCC-only system.

I'll have to try with some other locos that have pulsed smoke units factory installed and see what comes up.

I confirmed last night that an LGB 20275, which has a Marklin SUSI pulsed smoke unit, does not bring up the CV editor in version 2.5.1
