Bit of a long-shot but you just never know with the power of the forum. My 1956 Wonderwheel is missing a couple of MÄRKLIN signs that were originally mounted to the face of the wheel. They are quite distinctive and I thought were only used on this model however I noticed they also appear on some very early Shop Window Layouts circa early 60's. They have been mounted on the Wheels from the start of their production which was 1954 and given that a few will have been dismantled over the years, it's quite possible some of the surviving signs have found their way into the hands of enthusiasts. Here's an image of what the signs look like. To the best of my knowledge there are no others that are close to it. This image is from the example in the NTM Philadelphia. The signs will likely measure around 290 x 75 mm. Lettering is Red in the old MÄRKLIN logo style Corners are rounded and there is a Blue border all the way around Background appears to have a shining or reflective aluminium foil appearance to it. Material appears to be a form of embossed card Should by any chance someone have one or two of these signs, I can certainly give them a good home. Suggestions for alternatives, while appreciated, are not required. I've already looked into this and do have some options but originality is the aim of the game for me This image shows the embossing from the rear Thanks |
