Hello,

I am reliving my youth with an 40+ year old Marklin M-rail set.
I noticed a difference on a 5106 rail to connect to a trafo...

For as far as I could discover: (see the detail picture) it's a condensator, but I have no clue if and what it is for?

Any one shedding some light?

Hello Herman
This is a 5131 current feed track with a capacitor unlike the 5111 wich was without one.

Purpose: It was to reduce the electrical noise generated by model trains and allow RF and radios / TVs to work better

Note: This capacitor has to be removed when using digital signal.
Cheers
Jean

Thanks for the update... I kept looking for posts about the 5106.
Apparently: the number changes to either 5131 or 5111, depending.

So since I am only using analog locs, I should have no problem using either (with or without capacitor)
Thanks again,
Herman
