Did the BR 85 have a bell? Neither the Marklin or LokSound sound project has one.

Funny, I have never given a thought to this question before. In the following I limit myself to the steam locomotive era in Germany. Bells were used to secure grade level crossings. For this purpose, stationary signal bells evolved - see (and listen to) video.

Based on a quick research, I understand that only branch line steam locomotives were required to be equipped with bells due to unguarded grade level crossings, and that only a limited number of mainline steam locomotives serving branch lines had bells. Thus, no BR 85 bell ...

P.S.: Besides, German steam locomotives had and used whistles.

Locos used on branchlines needed a bell.
While class 03 steamers had fixed bells, mobile bells were used on class 01 locos when needed.

So a mobile bell would have been used on class 85 when it was needed.
