I have been working on a branch line zinnowitz bahnhof for the last year scenery looks grate so the first problem is 5120 m track is derailing long trains and second problem is a 4 foot bench work has me curling under layout every time trains derails also got a terminus train station that i can not run around trains on top of this my train length keeps getting bigger so with longer trains the switch work can not cope with or switching yard or platforms and finale problem no staging

so complete takedown of old layout

new shelf layout with long straight track work

less industry's less switching

moor staging

3 level split deck with NO helix

a lot moor mess and destruction

and a bucket of motivation

hess

The 5120 curves are known as "industrial radius" and will give you much trouble with any rolling stock that has bogies. The 5100 curves should be the minimum radius to use.

Hello Hess

My experience with 5120 tracks is, they are good provided:
- they are in excellent shape (no bending of any kind and excellent condition rail joiners).
- I have used them for years (from 1962 until 1973) without any derailment on all the Märklin locos and cars of that time (including the longest locos and 24 cm passenger cars. Märklin only, of course..
- forget totally about having change of slope with this kind of track. Better have no slope.
- forget about having cars longer than 24 cm
- and of course since it is an industrial radius track, better hide it.

Cheers
Jean

I used the 5120 only on small layouts where short trains with small locomotives ran and there were no problems. On a larger layout, he would only use them for maneuvering tracks for garage parking.
