Hi
I am about to start wiring a new layout - DCC 3.0m x 2.0m with probably 4 locos running at the same time maximum.

Marklin seem to suggest that for the main bus, 0.75 sq.mm wire is suitable. I have some 0.75sq.mm 24 strands at 0.20 and rated at 14amp.

In light of other peoples experience was just wondering if this is OK, or does it need to be something heavier.

many thanks

Alex

Hi Alex
I think 0.75 mm² is good for HO use. It is a good compromise between current capability (usually limited to 3 or 5 ampères for HO) and cable flexibility, cost and ease of wiring.
I suggest a star-like wiring. This is especially important when a loco answer-back is expected (my case with MFX)

Cheers
Jean

Thanks Jean

I was going to run a ring circuit up and down the underside of the boards and then simply use droppers from the track to connect in. Likewise I was going to run a similar ring circuits for the accessories etc and again just use dropper and quick connectors to link in. Uses more wire, but much easier to connect up than lying on my back working upside down!

I understand that the Marklin switches can connect direct to the main ring circuit
