I have several Marklin lighted passenger sets that work well. However I recently bought on Ebay to cars 43241 & 43251 they didn't light up? I sent them to be repaired, now they light up. However push them over any switch? with hand or engine shorts the whole Central Station out. A few little sparks fly as pickup shoe wheels? or shoe hit the switch. Not sure why? Any ideas? I am planning to setup a C track layout ring with switches and see if car short that out? Or hook up to Mobile Station? Any suggestions? Matt

Check to see if the shoe is centered. Also make sure the shoe is flat. Also the switches usually have the center studs longer and protrude higher and could push your shoe higher up and short on something underneath the passenger frame. I would visually compare this one with the other passenger cars that work well. Hope this helps.

You are correct I put electrical tape around the axles seems to work, I have some switches with seem to be high center contacts? Matt

Since we are writing about tenth of a millimeter between wheels and stud contacts on the K-turnouts it is easy it happens short circuits.
The problem are K-turnouts stud contacts.
This happens when the train set has to dose through a switch curve.
It did happened to me sometimes.
