I was servicing a 3046.1 SNCF and noticed this extra axle hole just behind the front wheel. It's drilled out and ready for an axle. I checked two other old style br44's and yes, They all have it. I have never noticed it before. Does anyone know where this bogie may have been used other than a br44??

I think the alternative axle position was used on later versions of TT800.

I wonder if they did this with any other parts over the years??
