Only the Marklin item comes up on a German DB yard decoupling light mast.

As trains/cars/coaches are normally manually uncoupled, there is no specific uncoupling point to be marked by a sign.
If such a sign exists, it would most likely be found in a marshalling yard.

It was used on hump-yards (abrollberge).
Fleischmann made an excellent version (6013);

There is a prototype for the Fleischmann mast, but there is no prototype for the Märklin mast.

The prototype of the Fleischmann mast shows the train driver whether they should push or stop pushing. Clever to combine that with an uncoupler track, but there are no such uncoupler tracks with the prototype.

Tom

Original prototype mechanical couplings did not lend themselves well to "remote" actions...Cool Kind of an "Up close and personal" action to couple/uncouple the wagons...
p. s. ...probably should have quoted Mike C, sorry to repeat...

Hi
No, there was never a prototype of this decoupling mast because, as already said decoupling was always manually made in Europe (and elsewhere I think)
It is a tradition with Märklin since at least 1945, with a semaphore and then a light mast to go with M Track.
In these early days (1952-1962) Märklin released a "humping signal" ("Abdrücksignal" in German) referenced 7043.
Here it is on my layout, in company with a home-made optical barrier signal to trigger the automatic uncoupling

And here is the automatic uncoupling in operation

Cheers
Jean
