Allen,
I don't have the operating instruction but I do have an ST800.

Unless previous owners have made modifications, the original ST800 and DL800 are analog units originally equipped with spoon type pickup shoes for solid center rail tracks. To make them usable on newer stud tracks you first need to replace the pickup shoes. Then put them on a track connected to an analog transformer and throttle up.

The original 'drum type' reverser is activated by an short pulse of over-voltage applied from an analog Märklin transformer. It has 4 positions: 1. Forward, 2. Stop, 3. Reverse, 4. Stop and finally back to Forward. In both stop modes the headlight brightness can be controlled by increasing the throttle voltage. But the train itself will not move.

Both models (and the CCS800 Krokodil) have oversized motors compared to other 800 series locos of the time. Only concern here is that if the brushes need replacing you need to get special oversize round brushes.

Just google for 'Märklin st800' and several sites will pop up offering all sorts of ST800 andr DL800 parts like brushes and pick-up shoes.
Here are sites 2 I found:
https://ttn-shop.com/marklin-part-list_st800.php
https://www.ebay.ca/sch/i.html?_nkw=marklin+st+800 (it even lists a booklet)

Enjoy your trains!
At least it seems you would like to run your new acquisitions rather than have them collect dust in a display case.

I hope tis helps

As you know ST800, DL800, DT800 are part of the same lot of parts (like a Meccano) with many construction similarities
Cheers (Amicalement)

Hi Allen,

Download attached PDF for the ST 800 (1953 edition). Sorry I don't have the DL 800, only the DT 800. But if no one else posts the DL, I can get it easily. But they are very similar

ba-st800-y-1253.pdf (995kb) downloaded 43 time(s).

Cheers

Steve
