Hello
I have 4 different Delta engines that are more or less show the same behavior. The engines are BR 212 224-0 from set 2855, BR 288 red 34284, BR 221 3582 and BR 41 354 from starter set 29625. All these engines move very slow when at full throttle. All engines have been fully cleaned, brushes replaced where needed, fresh oil and grease. I'm using a Ecos 50210 with C track. My question is: can these delta decoders be defective? Or is there some other reason for the slow movement. Also ran each engine for about 20 minutes after cleaning and the slow movement did not improve. Considering to possibly replace the delta decoders with a esu loksound 5 decoder but was wondering if there is some other reason for the problem and if there is an easy fix for that. Thanks in advance.

Robert

Hi!

Which track voltage did you set for your ECoS? Recommended voltages are 19 V to 20 V.
Locos will run faster when you increase the voltage.

For Delta locos, the protocols MM 14 or MM 27 should be used. Only newer Delta locos support MM 27, but it won't do any harm for older locos.
Regards
Tom

I had a similar behavior with Digitrax decoders in Z engines. When I turned Railcom off in my ECoS (on by default) the problem disappeared. Worth a check.
OneGauge Marklin and MTH, ESU ECoS 2.1 on LGB tracks. MTH 3-rail 0-gauge, DCS on GarGraves tracks. Z: Rokuhan tracks, analog or DCC+TC Gold.

Thanks HO and blid for your replies. Problem solved by HO like usual. I didn’t check the voltage when I first unpacked it (bought it new) and it was set to 13v. Set it now to 18v and 3 engines run now perfectly. The BR 212 runs backwards fine but forward it runs slower and makes a racket as well. That 1 I’ll probably refit with a new decoder. Thanks again👍👍
