Hi all,

On to my next issue, hoping someone might have experienced and found a solution to.

On m’y layout, I’m using the Viessmann Multi Protocol Decoder 5074 to light all my lanterns. I’m planning to get a second one eventually to light up houses and accessories.

As instructed by Viessmann, I bought to transformer 5200 to power it. At the moment, I have it switched as on, so the lights are always on when I power up the transformer. I have it mounter on the underside of my wooden base table, fixed to a support.

The lights all work fine however, the transformer has this loud buzzing sound coming from it and I have no idea of this is normal or not. I did some reading online about transformers making a humming sound, which can be amplified though vibration under the table. I experimented with rubber pads but it hasn’t helped.

My next strategy will be to loosen it or remove it completely to see what happens.

Has anyone had any similar experiences?

Hmm, I'd think a decoder would buxx or hum before a trafo. Try reversing polarity. If that doesn't work, laet iut hange loose in tha air. If that's not it, connect another 12 volt or eqivalent to a 5200 trafo and see if it buzzes.

I use the Faller trasnsformer for lighting buildings etc and it is completely silent. Does the transformer have contacts for both DC and AC. I use 16v AC.
Take care I like Marklin and will defend the worlds greatest model rail manufacturer.
