image0.jpegimage1.jpegFor nostalgic reasons, I wanted to convert a Hornby Class 37 to DCC and 3 rail. I anticipated so many issues however I just banged the ESU basic 8 decoder in there, "made it take it" slider in the front bogie and away it went!

That's great you did that! The image is difficult to see, so if you can put one that's easier to see, it would be good ;-)

Best regards,

Hi Karl,

I was in Scotland in 1996 visiting my brother in Fort William.
The class 37 seemed to be the only locomotive being used on all the trains both passenger and freight in and out of FW.
I am pretty sure it was blue and yellow at the time.
FW had a direct connection via mostly single line to Helensborough and Glasgow
There is a large aluminium smelter nearby, so the freight was substantial.
Very iconic locomotives.

regards
Kimball

I think you are thinking of "Deltics" which were the Class 55 (the noses have a similar shape to the class 37s), an express loco used on the East Coast mainline - they are now museum pieces. Class 37s are still used because they have a very good power/weight ratio and can be used all over the British network.
