I like your layout wood constructions! The idea is very interesting. Maybe f you use thinner wood, I would say thin plywood, you could make it look even more interesting. Are you going to paint those constructions or leave them as they are in the video?

Welcome LSQ! Are you Chinese, or from elsewhere if I may ask? Not many in China have space for trains. I've seen photos of some very nice large homes and golf courses near the Shanghai airport. I figured employees of American, etc. firms live in them.

Hi mbarreto, Glad you are interested in my unconventional layout and thanks for your suggestion. At the beginning my main aim is make the layout fit the style of room, then my little things could decorate layout, although no realistic scene or scale maybe not correct, but still could have fun when trains run. Then I focus on automatic operation with Marklin & Esu objects. I will not paint the constructions, only with some wood wax, after some period, color of wood changed to little deep, then have a special feeeling.

Layout is not big, size is 240x180cm. Maybe not many Chinese know trains, since no speical Marklin store in China.

I really enjoyed your video LSQ. As I start high level planning for my next layout I envision exactly the same kind of construction, emphasizing nicely cut and finished wood. Seeing your excellent results makes me more sure that this is the path I want to take. I can get a totally new layout up and running reasonably quickly and get to see my trains in action. Then over time I can add scenery and buildings where and when I want, and still have a functional layout to show off my trains. I expect that large sections of my layout will always stay this way. It was so helpful to see your layout done so well and with such a great result. Welcome to the forum. |
Regards,
Jim
I have almost all Märklin and mostly HO, although I do have a small number of Z gauge trains!
So many trains and so little time. |

I am impressed by your creativity. It is not hard to make a nice looking layout when you have model railroading stuff available but you have done without. Well done.

You have a very nice compact lauoyt LSQ! I can understand not many knowing model trains there, but with all of the modern high speed trains you have, including the Siemens ICE's, etc. many do know real trains. I would like to see more interest in models. I realize many don't have the money to afford them, but if China is becoming more and more a free market economy, you should at least be able to purchase them from abroad, or even there, where most are now made, in addition to Viet Nam.

Yes, usually I use 60832 to control turnout, also use few 74461/74462 to avoid wires exposed; in some slope areas, I use servo to control turnout, since sometimes, turnout could not reach destinated position if controled by 74461/74462 or 60832.

Hi, glad to exchange ideas of model train here, if interested in economic issue, may shift to Davos Forum.

LSQ, are there any specific websites where you can post videos or is Youtube the only channel you can reach people in China ?, I'm a bit unclear what ESU items you're using ?
