Yesterday i did read information about two new digital cab control.
It´s Piko Smartcontrol and Märklin MS WLAN.
I am suprised to see MS WLAN do still have same monitor and colorless.
Piko shows this time with colorful display.
Piko present also now with Railcom and Railcomplus.
Märklin MS WLAN still support same protocols like the old MS2.
Piko Smartcontrol also shows up loco picture image! ThumpUp
I wonder if Märklin did do smart move by present MS WLAN?
You can use mobil devices or tablet as cab control with CS3 so why to buy MS WLAN?
Piko present more fun with Smartcontrol but are you ready to invest in a new digital control?
I am not really sure if Pikos Smartcontrol do also have Mac adress?

Hi
you are forgetting the LoDi-Con, and it shows locomotive icons and have a rotating touch screen......
I think it's good to have options, so you can use what you prefer to control your trains. Personally, I find it a bit inconvenient when you control a train with your phone and it rings...... and my phone is often low on battery, so I have to plug it in.....
And I think it was smart by Marklin to launch the MS WLAN, even if it doesn't have a colour display, it will probably sell quite well.
Does the Pico controller have mfx support?
If the Pico controller uses standard WLAN it will of course have a MAC address.

Lodi-con looks and seems to be very good (I watched a youtube video). For 1/3 of the price I would go for it, but at more than 400 euros I am not interested, at least for now.
Relative to the use of a smartphone for use with the CS3, it's better to use an old one not used and without SIM card, but with a new battery. At least you will not receive calls )))
This said, I also think the MS WLAN will sell well although at the moment I have no plans to purchase one.
Basically I am wired, except sometimes rare that, for fun, I use the mobile app in the phone.

Miguel

You need CS3 to upgrade MS WLAN?
There is no further information about Märklins new MS.
So in fact do you need CS3?

actually, since you can use the WLAN Receiver Box in access point mode and connect it to an existing WLAN, I would be quite surprised it if was not possible to update the MS WLAN directly, without a cs3/2. you can also configure it using a web interface. ref the Marklin 60117 product page. (Declaration of Conformity is also available for those who are interested). But at the moment we can only wait for Marklin to publish more information, in order to be sure.
