Hello,

I assume the CS3+ cannot update the software of other brand’s decoders, like decoders in Roco locos (they use Zimo). Is it true?

If the CS3+ is not able to update third party decoders, how do you apply decoder updates? Using decoder vendor specific tools?

Correct! You can only adjust some parameters and change the address using the programming track.

Hi
Yes this is why, using a Märklin family of products makes a lot of sense. On the other hand, I may be wrong but I have never felt the need to upgrade the decoder software. One exception, on a mSD2 or mSD3, I don't remember, when trying to change the sound files, I was forced to change also the decoder s/w and configuration files (4 different files in each Märklin sound decoder.
So each manufacturer proposes its own lok programmer (ESU, Uhlenbrock, etc) and instead purchasing locos you end up purchasing electronic modules.
Cheers
Jean
