I received my 42265 set of coaches.
Very well done too.
I noted that the Catholic or Lutheran priest in my set travels 1st or 2nd class.
There is a hierarchy in every form of society.

The end coach is fitted with the B (bahnstrom) current slider and has LED marker lanterns at roof level.
Each coach has internal lighting with partitions and seating with figures installed.
An internal potentiometer can dim the lighting if required.
Each coach is fitted with current conducting couplings, so while I have not tried running the consist I don't believe the order matters.
However be careful - the ends of the carriage consist MUST USE A NON-CONDUCTING COUPLER!!
Otherwise there is a danger that a short-circuit can occur when coupled with other rolling stock.

The coach lettering (Kö = Cologne) is as follows BEHIND THE LOCOMOTIVE (with consist order marked on each coach):
Pw4ü 105 102 Kö baggge car (LOCO END NON-CONDUCTING COUPLER)
C4ü 16 082 Kö, (1)
AB4ü 11 278 Kö, (2) 1st and 2nd class
C4ü 16 083 Kö, (3)
C4ü 16 080 Kö, (4) LED MARKER LAMPS for end of train - (OUTER END NON-CONDUCTING COUPLER)

When I opened the box I noted that the interior of all 4 coaches had somewhow slid upwards so you could see not only the seat sides but the legs of all the inserted passengers.
Upon opening up the first coach I realised how this had occurred.
There is a very large weight (under the interior molding) held horizontally in place by two spigots in the car floor.
The interior molding has 6 lugs which clip into the floor and at the same time holds the weight vertically against the floor.

I surmise that the set has been very roughly handled somewhere between Germany and Australia.
So much so that the weight has been "bounced" and unclipped the interior molding from the car floor.
The box must have been dropped on one end because all the weights ended up at the same end of each car.
This kept the interior molding elevated along the whole length.

By opening up each car I was able to rectify this.

Hi Kimbal

I just saw this set of coaches at my dealer's (Au Pullman in Paris) and it is really splendid.
If I behave nicely, Santa will bring me a 39662 (BR06) loco but not the set of coaches. I am already spoiled so no regrets.
So this 42265 set is really a splendid choice.

I had a coach with a similar weight that kept coming loose so I fixed it more securely in place with a drop of rubber cement. If the problem persists you might try that or some similar non permanent adhesive.

A very nice set indeed… unfortunately not in the budget this year. (I’ll just have to make do with the Era II Schuerzenwagen produced back in the 90s 😉)

Actually, if you replace the normal coupler with current conducting coupler in the ends, nothing will happen as the NEM shaft lacs the electrical transmission element, and the connection plates are not wired up.

It is a shame that things like that happen, makes you wonder how badly the package was handled. (my set was perfectly fine.) Perhaps it was handled by these guys?

it's indeed a very nice set and the lights stay on with full brightness for approx 15 seconds after the power is cut, and then fade slowly out. The light's total consumption is approx 0,156A and the startup peak is just above 1A

Thanks for the review Kimball. I was about to start a thread to see if these are now being delivered, as there is no sign of mine yet.

I have a 43256 D12 Insider coach set, which I bought to run behind my 39193 E19.1. I added lighting to them and I particularly like the Hechtwagons, although I have not yet added any passengers to those coaches. When I saw this set I was instantly in love and they will look great running behind my BR06. Marklin models are always slow getting to North America and I am really looking forward to seeing them soon.

Your review makes it both easier and harder wait. ThumpUp

Yes watched the video.
There is no necessity for workers to mis-treat other peoples belongings.
It looks like they get to work in air-conditioning too (maybe).

In my experience these are the sort of people who complain to the Human Rights Commission.
Whose job is to listen and escalate it to the ultimate harrassment against the employer regardless of merit.
