I have had my cs3 connected to the wifi for about 4 weeks. Today for some reason it will not connect. It keeps coming up with 'error message' but does not say what the error is.
I log into my IP address 192.168.0.135 and it starts searching. It varies but usually it does one pass with the progress bar & then comes up with error message beneath the bar. I have tried many times and still no joy.
Any ideas please.

Check the IP address on your CS3 - your router may have changed the address. This has happened to me three times.

You say the CS3 was connected to Wifi. I assumed you meant the device you you attempted to connect with failed the connection. The CS3 does not have inbuilt Wifi. It must be hard wired to the Wifi router/server.

Hi Trevor
Welcome to our forum.

The CS3 must be connected to another device, using an Ethernet cable. Usually the "other" device is a WiFi router.
As Phil already said, the CS3 has no WiFi capability by itself but I think you know that.

In this case, the router will connect to the CS3 but there are exceptions. If the WiFi router cannot connect to your CS3, there will be no WiFi connection.

The best way is to set the CS3, in IP screen, into the AUTO (DHCP) mode.
cs3_screenshot_IP Address.png
After a while or after a CS3 reboot, the CS3 will ask the router for an address (192.168.xxx.xxx)
Once the CS3 got this VALID address, you may switch it to manual (so the CS3 IP address is frozen and can be used in a stable way by external applications (Rocrail, MainStationApp, etc).

Remaining in AUTO (DHCP) can cause the router to provide a DIFFERENT IP address thus causing disruption on some applications
Cheers
Jean

Thanks all, I had those points covered and my problem is giving the correct names to what I am doing.
In the end I tried it on another computer and it worked perfectly. This lead me to think about the history on the browser. I deleted the history for the last 4 weeks and went straight back into the cs3.
I will take the point of going to manual IP address on the cs3 to help keep tjings stable.
Thanks again. Trevor

Trevor, this may have to do with the firewall.
Using a fixed IP address (192.168.0.23) I had to declare it as a permitted computer on Windows security
Cheers
