Hi,

I like the 1950s & 60s (plastic) Merten figures (and the boxes they came in).
There's something about them ...
Their 'charm' is exactly what I'm looking for. (they will do great on 1960s Faller kits).

Merten (as well as Preiser) switched in 1956 to making plastic figures, but stood somewhat in the shadow of the Preiser figures (that were better painted).

So far I 'collected' a 1959 and 1964 catalog, and 5 boxes:

Box 812 Reisende männlich / Men passengers
Box 971 Eilende weibliche Reisende / Women passengers hurrying
Box 896 Knechte und Mägde auf dem Bauernhof / Farm workers
Box 908 Eisenbahn-Personal / Railroad staff (2x)

Some of these figures get a nice spot on the B-93, B-227 and B-275 1960s Faller kits I'm currently working on.

BTW, maybe Juhan can change the name of the "Faller collectibles" forum, into "Faller collectibles and other vintage accessories", (so we have a good corner for posting vintage Kibri, Vollmer, Pola, Merten, Preiser ...)

And some close up's from the 1959 catalog ... which actually do show some resemblance with the figures.

What I didn't know before is that these Merten figures, were in the 60s also the choice of Marklin for their larger exhibition and factory layouts.
Because the 4 different packs of the Marklin cast figures were not varied enough to populate their larger layouts.

Seeing the beauty of these early Mertens, I can understand why M. chose Merten and not Preiser.
