A little “survey” about viessmann signals for a computer controlled Marklin layout (so using signals controlled by Rocrail and only for ascetic purposes). Thinking in using “regular” signals with control modules (viessmann 5222, etc) and “k83” (viessmann 5211) or multiplexer ones. The need for external 5211 makes the first one more expensive or at least equal. Am I’m missing something? (Multiplexer signals are easier to install). Also one question: the purpose of the control boxes (viessmann 5222, 5223, etc) is only for a soft change of light? I ask that because they can be connected directly to 5211.

Hello Pedro,

I'm afraid the only purpose of 5222, 5223 items are only to switch smoothly the led lights.
Furthermore, you have to operate them with a 5546/5545 (manual operation) or with a 5211 if you want to assign a digital address to signals.

As a result, a long time ago, I've decided to jump directly to 472x (multiplexed signals) and 5229/52292 as the led are SMD leds.
If you compare the price for instance of a 2 * 4722 signals + 1* 52292, it is in the same price range of 2 * 4011 + 2 * 5222 + some 5211

My 2 cents
Fabrice

Hello Pedro,

I have been using the regular Viessmann signals and the LDT signal decoders type LS-DEC-DB. Each decoder can handle 4 signals.

Yes, i know that but was wondering why 5222 and 5223 are so expensive on such a setup.

I made a few scenarios and that's true, like i said befor a multiplexer scenario seems less expensive and with less parts and easier setup (in a new scenario, of course).
I think i go that way.

BTW, as far as i know there are no multiplexer semaphores, only those digital ones like the 4702 (expensive but digital and with a slow arm movement).
