I came across a really nice 28462 Sersa (Am 847) set on eBay. After it arrived it was apparent that this was a collector's item and the motor was brand new. So, I decided to upgrade the DCM motor to 5 pole (complete with the Marklin permanent magnet) and install a Loksound 5 decoder. I used this ESU project to set up the decoder ->

I made two changes from the default project. Turned off the DCC protocol and set the motor type to Marklin 5*.

It runs well with the decoder, but there are two problems.
1. I need to turn off all of the acceleration and deceleration delay (usually F4 on a Marklin decoder) so that I can calibrate the loco using WinDigiPet. I thought it was the F6 (see the list below), but this made the loco run at half-speed.

Key Functions
F0 front light
F1 sound on/off
F2 Air Horn
F3 bell
F4 radiator fan
F5 heavy load
F6 acceleration/brake time, shunting mode/shunting speed
F7 curve squeal
F8 AUX#1
F9 compressed air let off
F10 conductor's signal
F11 coupler clank

Is there some other way to set a F4 equivalent for these decoders?

2. While it was in F6 mode, the two slowest speed steps (WDP uses 15 steps - spread across the whole range - so they would have been steps 8 and 17 of the 126) were very jerky/surging. At higher speeds the loco ran smoothly. Any thoughts on this one?

Hi,

Acc/dec and shunt speed are builtin functions that can be connected to any of the function keys. In this case it seems that both functions are connected to the same function key. You can reprogram one of the functions to another key.

Fixed after some experimentation!

The function is "Accelerate" and not "Shunting mode" or "Shunting speed" as I first thought. I added this to F8 and now all works well.
