i have not visited in a long time. guess that means no issues with my layout? hahaha. part of my layout is m track and some of my older freight cars are derailing or i pulled out some of the in need of repair and discover that some of the wheels are spaced closer together than most of my smooth running units. is there a dimension i should shoot for? i find that i can move the wheels on the axle to change the width.

The wheel distance should be 13.8mm for Märklin tracks.

Not sure about the 13.8 standard. If the wheels are AC I don't think they're adjustable. Wheel spacing is measured from the inside of the flanges.

Old Märklin inter-flange distance is 13.8 mm while on newer cars the distance is 13.9 to 14.0 mm to get gloser to 2 rail vehicles and ease interoperability.
