80 foot flat cars loaded with blades for wind turbines in northeastern British Columbia. Load is in downtown Calgary, Alberta, Canada on the CP mainline and will need to be transferred to the CN system that goes through Grande Prairie, Alberta and Dawson Creek, British Columbia. The route is sinuous to say the least.

Would be interesting to have a drone following that and supplying video footage.

Having watched TV footage of such blades being moved on roads by specialist carriers, it would be interesting to see how this would work. I guess this is where the (relatively) large radius of railroad curves comes to the rescue.

how close is the end rail head to the final delivery site?

Turns out these blades came from Monterey, Mexico,to Calgary, 3600 km, and then to the point of use is another 1100 km.

The CO2 emissions for green power are ridiculous. Theblades were fabricated in Mexico (cheap labour and minimal health and environmental standards).
But we aren’t supposed to talk about that.
It is all unicorn farts and fairy giggles. COP 26…..
4 years or so later, the blades failed and the wind farm is non productive.
