Hi All,

A couple days ago I received my 39173 BR103 locomotive and I've been trying to figure out what they are saying in the station announcement but there is too much echo to make the middle and last part out, can anyone tell me what is being said? No need to translate into English as I would like to know the German version. I have the 26540 set and have the same problem and it's driving me nuts.

Thanks
Mike

Is it the bit just at 01:26? She says doors closing, [indistinguishable], careful of the departure.

I have listened to it a number of times and can't make it out either.

Bitte einsteigen, Türen schließen selbsttätig. Vorsicht bei der Abfahrt.
All aboard, please; doors will close automatically. Be careful while the train departs.

And later (1:50): Alle reden vom Wetter, wir nicht.
An old advertising slogan of Deutsche Bundesbahn, meaning: Everybody talks about weather, but not we. The message was: Bundesbahn travels with any kind of weather.

Nowadays people say that the four enemies of Deutsche Bahn are Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. Today DB is delayed with any kind of weather.
Regards
Tom

Different from the 1960's announcment when the coductors had to close the doors. I don't decipher the wording. Can you please tell us what it was?

Even in the 1980s there still were doors that had to be closed manually. And passengers were asked to close them.

"Bitte einsteigen und Türen schließen. Vorsicht bei der Abfahrt."
Please get in and close the doors. Be careful while the train departs.

The 1962 Rheingold already had automatic doors, so this announcement does not apply.

Thanks Tom, you've put to rest something that has been bugging me for 13 years. It was bad enough I couldn't figure it out on the first lok where I heard it, but having a second one and still not being able to figure it out, that was too much. BigGrin
