Hey,

I got a PIKO 52519 locomotive with PLUX22 decoder (factory installed). I run my layout with marklin CS3.
the CS3 Recognizes the locomotive as a DCC.

and I think to Upgrade it to mfx decoder maybe with sound/

I would love recommendations for a recommended decoder.TNX,

Amir

It's a feature, not a bug. The CS3 tries mfx first, then DCC, then MM.
So for locos supporting DCC it should be DCC that is recognised.
DCC supports 126 speed steps, 10239 loco addresses, and 32768 functions per loco. MM supports 14 speed steps, 255 loco addresses, and 5 functions per loco.
DCC is the better choice if only MM is the alternative. Wink

You can register the loco manually using MM. But why?
Regards
Tom

If you really want to put an mfx decoder in then I suspect that an ESU Loksound may be your only option, but I don't know if they do a Plux22 version of their M4 decoder. you will need to check with your dealer.

I would agree with HO, if you don’t want sound why hangs to an MFX decoder. I have a few Roco and Piko locos which register as DCC. Operationally they are on a par with the Märklin equivalent and in some cases better. I don’t know that loco, if the decoder is just a plug in have a look at the new range of Piko decoders. I think there is a decoder loaded with the sound of that loco.
