At each end of my layout, I would like to put a return loop so the train can come back through and have continuious running. I plan on placing a turnout at each end and have the track loop back into the same turnout. Has anyone done this in C track? I am using a short axle loco and short trains (1-4 cars). If so, what C track sections did you use?

One solution could be: Start with a 24611 turnout. Then from the straight branch use 2*24188 + 24229 + 24172 + 6*24130 + 24230 + 24224 + 2*24172 + 24094 + 24230.

This gives a total error of 0.2 mm around the loop. Haven't tested since I only use M-tracks, but it should work.

Hi Bill, all,

Once, for a discussion in another forum, I constructed the following reversing loop:

(It's a Yahoo link, i.e. you must copy and paste the address into your browser.)

I used Raily 2.0 which can be downloaded on http://www.enigon.com/Museum/English/wraily2.html. I am also using M tracks, so I haven't tested the layout...

For wide loop, start from straight branch of turnout, then use 2X24188, 2X24172, 1X24077, 9X24230 (turn to curved branch of switch), change direction of curve, 2X24230, 1X24206. Loop closed.

For smaller loop, remove 24077, and replace all but one 24230 with 24130. Keep the 24230 at the end of the straight section.

If you are short on space, and want to use M-track, here is one track plan. (Dog is extra)

With C-track, here are some examples from my layout. The upper loop is R1/R2. the lower loop is R2+R3.

Nice dog too... My daughter just asked if you could give it a pat for her.. (Sorry about that!)...

Are they 5137 turnouts and a 5114 x-ing?

Yes.
And this used those 3/16th (or was it 5/16th?) track sections.
I can send you the parts list if you want.

This was adapted from an old Marklin track book I picked up somewhere. If you set two switches at one end to straigt, and the other pair to curved, the train will automatically reverse.
