Hi,

Can anyone help me find the parts numbers for the interior lights for these old metal wagons? I’ve searched in vain both in this forum and the rest of the www.

Many thanks in advance!, Peder

We’ll, you have a choice. It depends what you want to achieve.

The contemporary lighting units for these original coaches are 7077, and you would two for each coach. These are simple units that clip to the metal coach body, and have a small bayonet bulb (60000 type). The pickup shoe for these is 7075. These are not made any more, but can be found on eBay or other auctions.

Alternatively, you could use modern current-production LED lighting such as Märklin 73400. These would fit into the coaches using sticky pads or similar, and would need a pickup shoe. Other manufacturers make LED units, too.

My personal preference is to use lighting that is contemporary with the model (rather than contemporary with the prototype), so I would use the 7077s, but that’s because I’m a Märklin fan!

Hi Peder,

One of my favourite coaches, I have the 3118 set plus an extra 4020, makes a nice consist. Mine are all lighted so I thought you might like to see the installation?

Two images showing the lighting, the better one is with the flash, the other without, sorry camera is not the best. The interior colour helps spread the lighting well so you don't get obvious bright spots at each end.

Adding interiors would of course give an additional dimension but those are harder to come by.

Thanks Steve,

I’m preparing a cabinet with all my old Märklin items and would like to be ble to have the interiors lit up in the cabinet for show. I have already found some 7077 and 7075 on eBay, so now it’s just waiting…

Thanks all for helping me out!

Peder
