I need to replace the spoked wheels sets on some of my Marklin Gauge 1 freight cars. I'm new to Gauge 1, and frustrated by how hard it is to find schematics for older freight cars on the Marklin website. I have some 54xx series freight cars, as well as some 1990's and early 2000's museum cars. It looks to me like they all use the same spoked wheel sets, but I can't locate a part number for them. I'm not even sure Marklin still uses them, or sells them.

On the same note I recently picked up a 58xx wine car that needs 2 "axle retainer plates" for lack of a better description. The plates clip on pins molded on the chassis and hold the ends of the axles in place. Two appear to have broken and the previous owner made some metal plates to replace them, the only problem is that because the replacement plates don't have the molded sleeves/bushings the factory ones have, they're damaging the ends of the axles. I'd love part numbers for these retaining plates, and to know if the above spoked wheel sets would work on this car.

I have looked at Dingler's wheel sets, but from what I understand they may require a conversion as they come with bushings for the axle ends. I'm not opposed to the work if there is no Marklin alternative.

I could also use help in getting the part number for the couplers used in the above mentioned cars as well, as I need a few of these also.

As mentioned above, a few older freight car schematics would by helpful.

Thanks "Forum Members" for any help or knowledge you can impart to me.

Hello Stuart.

I don't know where to find original MAXI spoked wheel sets; but I can help you with a bit of the rest BigGrin

This guy, Rainer Herrmann has a lot of spare parts, his homepage can be a bit confusing, and then it's in German;
But he is really friendly and helpful, and can probably also help you with stuff not shown on the home page: https://www.spur1-werkstatt.de/

On this sub-page you can find bushings used for using e.g. Dingler wheelsets on Märklin wagons: https://www.spur1-werkst...-radsaetze-fuer-waggons/

Take care when you buy wheel sets; fine scale is not for you, only the NEM type BigGrin

For the "axle retainer plates" I'm sure you mean Märklin item number 481480 ( Lagerblech or Achslagerblech ),
they can be found by many online dealers or at Märklin's onlineshop; but nowhere with a picture.

Rainer Herrmann can probably help you with those too.

I have a picture here:

The metal ones you have could actually be the very old type used by Märklin.

Could you take a picture of the couplings you need; I have several; but there are a lot of different types.

( I also have some of the retainer plates, and I might also have a few used wheel sets. )
