I need someone who really understands how these signals are used in Germany. Here is a scenario with a question:
A single track approaches a station. The station has four tracks (branched off of that one track) each with its own modern colored light signal. Each of these signals include a distance signal below for the block ahead. All four distance signals are referencing the same block beyond the station (since the four tracks converge again to one track). So if that signal after the station turns green should all four distance signals at the station show green even though at least 3 of them will have their main signal red or should only a green top signal update the correct value for its corresponding distance signal? Thank you so much!

Now you've got me curious too! I'm sure there are online tutorials. Perhaps even Wikipedia.
The signal descriptions are on the Marklin site items database. Basically, they are home signals, at stations, for entering, and exiting, distant signals, which tell a driver if a track ahead is clear or not, yard signals to tell them if a turnout is set correctly or a track is clear to enter or exit a siding. Older ones have discs and semiphore arms which move up or down. A combination home/distant signal had two. Some also have lights. Green go, red stop, orange/yellow caution. Newer ones only lights.

If the main signal for the current block shows red, the distant signal on the same signal mast should be turned off.

As Perz pointed out that when you have a main signal and a distant signal on the same mast, when the main signal is red the distant signal is off. The light signal decoders by LDT and Viessmann account for this. The Rocrail signal WIKI actually has a very good description of the signal aspects and refers to this as Blanking of the Main/Distant Signal. (Section 8.3)

Modern light signals ("Ks") can be signal and distance signal at the same time. So I assume you do not use really modern light signals now.

Did you buy the signals already?
Which era do you model?
