Hello all,

Overtime I have collected quite a collection of ERA V/VI locos and rolling stock. Passenger services are complete, although Preiserlings are eagerly waiting the arrival of the green ICE train.

On the freight side there is a requirement for one more locomotive. Currently services are provided by
Rail Pool 151 from Roco, I have to say a fabulous loco and Marklin 193
Railion 185 from Marklin
DBAG 185, 187 x 2, Vectron 1700

So these are the contenders

Roco BR 186 79934, Rail Pool Zebra Livery
Roco BR 233 58497, Ludmilla
Marklin BR 189 39866
Marklin BR 193 36181

In an ideal world I would buy all 4, but that is not an option. FD is threatening to downsize the family and my role would be eliminated! So help please which would you choose and has anyone experience of any of these models?

Many thanks
Adrian

I myself already have a 36182? MRCE, so I'd get the br 189 39866 for the world of operation feature. Of course you need a CS2 or 3 to use that.

Thank you I have a CS3, but I have to admit that I don’t make full use of the world of operation features.

May I add to your dilemma by suggesting you also take a look at the Wilde 13+ / Piko BR151 71136 Railpool / DB hybrid livery with different looking ends?

New Piko expert digital models are nice too! In the Marklin 36000 series, the Traxx locomotives are nice too, and the Skoda for DB also.
I like using the word of operation feature at times. Some 37000 series now have it. The cab driver instruments are also different between the eras of the locomotives.

Thanks Ian. A very attractive livery. I haven’t got a Piko loco yet. Do you have one, if so what are your thoughts on quality sound etc?

Hello Adrian,

May I also add to your dilemma by recommending you take a look at the PIKO 52763
model of the DB BR 232 "Ludmilla" ( "3 rail" for Märklin) .

I found mine to be very satisfactory :

Hi Adrian,

Sorry for the delay. I can highly recommend the latest Piko Expert locos and have the 151 Wilde 13+ / Piko BR151 71136 Railpool / DB on order. I got the 181.2 Saar and prototype 120 just before Christmas and they give Marklin a good run for their money. I'd have no hesitation in buying one. Also got the V200 Rheingold on order, another Wilde 13+ commission.
