I have the Marklin 4121 "Shell Exhibition Car" that was a gift from a friend in Germany and I'd like to find an ERA-appropriate consist of cars to run with it. Any ideas/suggestions?

Exhibition cars usually stand at a train station to be visited by people. Usually there are several exhibition cars.
They move from town to town, usually hauled by some back-up loco from the loco depot.

If this is a one-car exhibition, then maybe make it a one-car exhibition train. Or add other exhibits - maybe some automobiles.
Regards
Tom

I would think that these cars were either given a designated lok for transport or would be shunted to an ordinary freight train or perhaps on a "Überführungsfahrt" where loks and coaches were transfered back or forth to where they are needed.

You could look out for a 4290 set. It has six Shell exhibition coaches.

Thanks for the ideas! I like this idea of featuring it as an attachment to other "transfer trip" cars - by itself or other consists of my own design!

The other Shell exhibition set is not of interest to me, but I did want to use this car. It may just get it's own special lok ... I seem to have more of those than I need!

Would that be a grøftekant?! (Throwback to Gnags, "Simpel Sang"!!! I lived in Sorø, Denmark for a year 1980-81.)
