Hello

I bought recently quite old BR128 which have Delta decoder and quite poor motor.
I would like to make this beauty run and behave better and add sounds too.BigGrin

Anybody here who have made the total conversion to this model Which motor conversion set You have used

I think to put new Märklin sound decoder and magnet based motor conversion.

Perhaps If You have made this please could You put some pictures.Blushing.
I didn't find any information from this forum for this kind of total conversion.

Regards Jukka

Hi!

Motor would be 60941.

A conversion without custom-made board for BR 182 can be seen here:
https://www.marklin-user...coder-upgrade#post626702

Others have made their own PCBs to hold the resistors for the LEDs.

Thank You very Much Tom.

But 60942 is decoder not a motor conversion setBlushing Blushing , there is three conversion sets available
60941, 60943 and 60944, which of these include suitable Brush plate and suitable Magnet.
I think that I have already suitable Armature.

I have made about 30 conversions to old and Very old trains and some of them are quite
difficult to get rolling without some extra work.

Jukka

I meant 60941, of course. DCM is the standard motor for recent models.

Hello and thanks again.

As You know (perhaps) BR128 motor is Delta -motor which have old copper-winded coil instead of Magnet.

I have damaged few coils ( which was in very old Locos) when Open Motor for inspection.
Copper wire is quite thin and if someone has dismantled motor several times, coil can be damaged
no matter how careful you are.
That is why I asked help from forum, BR128 is my first and it is from Romania and opened several times.
Cost of this Loco was only 40euros but it still runs quit well.

Thanks for Forum and thanks especially for Tom now.ThumpUp ThumpUp

In my experience this is mainly a problem with single-frame locos where the thin wire is soldered directly to the reversing unit.
With two-truck locos you have a stranded wire between field coil and reversing unit and the risk is much smaller.
I think with Delta locos you have stranded wires between field coil and decoder, too.
