I just got some older Märklin passenger cars with lighting (pickup shoe, incandescent light bar).

Of course, they flicker on a digital layout.

Is there an easy fix or must I replace the light bars?

adding a capacitor would probably work.

The circuits shown at

will probably also work pretty well for non-LED lights (will just need more capacitance as the draw is greater)

The best way is to use a bridge rectifier plus a capacitor.

No flickering at all
