I set up a 6090 kit in a 6021 ? Engine today. I found that knowing what the codes mean in the controller and then pull that into the controller. Then the controller recognizes the board and will do what it’s told!!

Without that the board is pretty much useless. The Full 0 setting in the register eliminates control by the controller and the train speed maxes out!

This old board is useable with a mobile system controller and the main controller that Marklin sells!!!

Hi!
Welcome to the forum.

The controller is like a radio sender: It broadcasts to everybody without receiving feedback. The controller does not recognize decoders, but when the correct protocol and address is used the decoder will understand the messages from the controller.

The 6090 decoders work fine for me. Make sure you do not swap wires in the feeder tracks (red to B or centre rail, brown to 0 or outer rail).

Tom
